How to Start a Blueprint From Your Business

You'll have a new Blueprint, a plan for the next two to five years, starting from today's numbers, cash, debt, inventory and owned assets, and open on its first step.

Before You Start

  • Where: "Blueprints" in the navbar opens "My Blueprints". "Add New" opens the "Start From…" page.
  • Plan: free accounts get one editable Blueprint and every input step, years three to five included. The forecast results and "Compare" need a paid tier.
  • To start from your business: My Business must be set up with its Revenue step done. If it isn't, the "My Business" card says "Set it up first." or "Finish its Revenue step first." and takes you there.

Steps

  1. Open "My Blueprints". Click "Blueprints" in the navbar, then "Add New". With no Blueprints yet, the button reads "Create New Blueprint". Screenshot to come: My Blueprints list with the Add New button and the Blueprint rows (my-blueprints-list.png)

  2. Pick a starting point. Click "My Business" to copy today's numbers. Click "Scratch" for a new idea that starts at zero. Screenshot to come: The Start From page with the My Business and Scratch cards (start-from-chooser.png)

  3. Copy your business in one click. "My Business" creates the Blueprint straight away. Its name, industry, story and tax election come from My Business, so it opens on "Target". "Scratch" opens "Basics" first: fill in "Business Info" and "Your Info", then click "Create Blueprint".

  4. Follow the dashboard. Each Blueprint has a dashboard with three phases. A locked step opens once the one before it is done.

    Viability Draw the monthly roadmap to a sustainable business that delivers your Freedom Number.

    Scale (optional) Transform from sustainability into a fully-fledged enterprise. Years three to five, opened once Build is done. Inputs are free; the 5-year results need a paid tier.

Tips

  • My Business holds annual figures, so the copy has no seasonal pattern. You draw one on Build.
  • After a new import, click "Refresh Starting Numbers" on the Blueprint's dashboard, just above "Basics", to copy today's numbers again. "Pull Latest From My Business" shows up on "Basics" when the industry or story has changed, and it copies those only.
  • "Remove Starting Point" sends month 1 back to zero. Funding and Working Capital keep their entries.

Common Questions

Should I start from my business or from scratch?
Start from My Business when the plan grows what you already run. "Scratch" suits a business that doesn't exist yet.

Will editing the Blueprint change My Business?
No. The Blueprint has its own copy. Your tax profile is the one shared piece: one per account, used by My Business, Blueprints and the Freedom Number.

How many Blueprints can I have?
One editable Blueprint on the free plan. Paid tiers have no fixed limit. You can star up to two to keep them at the top of the list.
