Build Your Vision
How to Have Occam Draft a Plan for You
This is design by prompt: Occam drafts the whole plan from a few sentences, and you go in and tweak it, the way an import fills My Business before you complete the picture. You'll have Occam's Proposal, a drafted month-24 Design, long-term purchases and growth path, loaded into your Blueprint for you to customize and finalize.
Rather build each step yourself, with Occam reviewing as you go? Skip to Design.
Before You Start
- Where: a Blueprint's "Design" step, in the "Ask Occam To Build It" panel at the top.
- Plan and credits: a proposal costs 100 credits, so it needs Solo (1,000 a month) or Advisory (5,000). Credits are charged once, when the proposal is ready. A short balance stops it before it starts. You can run 5 a month.
- A saved Target: Occam designs the business to reach it. See How to Set Your Target.
Steps
- Describe the business. Under "What Should This Business Look Like Two Years From Now?", write a few sentences: what you sell, to whom, at roughly what price, with how many people. Then click "Ask Occam To Build It". Screenshot to come: Design page with the Ask Occam To Build It panel and a filled-in description (occam-prompt.png)
- Answer the questions. Occam reads your request first. You can leave while it does: "Answer Them" in the tray brings you back. Under "A Few Questions Before Occam Builds", answer the ones that matter and skip the rest. Each shows what Occam will assume. Click "Build My Design", or "Skip — Use Occam's Assumptions". - Let it run. Building takes 10 to 20 minutes in the background, so you can leave the page. The tray at the bottom of every page shows progress. An email follows if you weren't watching.
- Open the proposal. Click "Review It" on the Design page or the dashboard, or "Review Proposal" in the tray.
- Read it. The review shows month-24 revenue, costs and profit against your target. Below that come "Your Month-24 P&L", "Key Assumptions" with sources, "What Changed From Today", "Long-Term Purchases", "The 24-Month Path" and "Open Risks". - Apply it. Tick the parts to load ("Design", "Long-Term Purchases", "Growth Path", and "Purchase Plan" when you sell products), then click "Apply To This Blueprint". Ticking "Growth Path" also ticks "Design".
- Make it yours, then finalize. The proposal arrives as a draft. Go through Design, Working Capital, Invest and Build as you would on your own: change what doesn't fit, then finalize each. On "Build", click "Use This Path" to take Occam's growth curves. Screenshot to come: Build page banner Occam's Proposal Suggested A Growth Path with Use This Path (occam-growth-banner.png)
Tips
- Name what you won't do ("no second location"). Occam lists those under "Deliberately Not Done".
- A proposal belongs to you, not to one Blueprint. "Load A Saved Proposal" on Design brings it into another Blueprint.
Common Questions
Will applying overwrite my work?
It replaces this Blueprint's draft Design and Invest. Finalized steps stay as they are until you finalize again. To keep both versions, duplicate the Blueprint first.
Am I charged if it fails?
No. Credits are charged only when the proposal is ready. A failed run shows "Occam Couldn't Finish" in the tray, with "Try Again".
Does Occam set my starting cash or loans?
No. Funding stays yours to enter. Cash needs and breakeven appear on the results once you generate the forecast.
