How to Read Your Score Card
You'll assess your business like a CFO: its score out of 100, which area holds it back, and how to unlock Plays.
Before You Start
- Where it is: "Assessment" in the My Business sidebar, "Get Your Score Card" at the bottom of the Financial Summary, or "View Score Card" on the My Business home. The page is titled with your business's name followed by "Score Card".
- What you need: a first visit to the Financial Summary. The Score Card stays locked until then.
- Plan: the Overall Score and the four area scores are free. The metrics inside each area (up to 17), and the benchmarks behind them, need a paid tier.
Steps
- Follow the tour. It starts on your first visit and points out the dial, the areas, the metric rows and Plays. "Done" or "Skip Tour" both end it and unlock Plays. "Take the Tour" runs it again. - Read the dial. "Overall Score: N/100" sits above a dial labelled with its band: Lagging (0–39), Below Average (40–54), Average (55–69), Good (70–84) or Excellent (85–100). Screenshot to come: Score dial reading Overall Score with its band label (score-card-dial.png)
- Compare the four areas. The tabs under the dial are "Revenue Health", "Margin Health", "Marketing Efficiency" and "Financial Stability". Each shows signal bars, from one for a weak score to five for a strong one. Click a tab to open its panel.
- Open a metric (paid tier). Each panel lists its metrics, such as Gross Margin, Operating Margin and Cash Conversion under Margin Health. Click a row to see where you sit against industry benchmarks, from Lagging to Excellent, with its definition, why it matters and the "Benchmark Source" the comparison comes from. On a free account the panels are blurred; click to see the plans. - Read what isn't graded. A metric that can't be measured shows "None" with what to add to unlock it. An area with nothing measurable shows "N/A" on its tab and "Not Applicable" on its panel. Neither counts in the score.
Tips
- The four areas carry different weights: Margin Health 30%, Revenue Health 25%, Marketing Efficiency 25%, Financial Stability 20%. When an area drops out, the others share its weight.
- Some margin metrics compare you with peers as if you paid a manager at market rate for your own work. The metric window says so under "How We Compare This". Your statements don't change.
- On a paid plan, Occam is available on this page: click his avatar in the bottom right corner to open a chat that explains any score. Each question costs 1 credit.
Common Questions
Why does a metric say "None"?
Its input isn't in My Business yet, often because a step was skipped. Fill it in from "Edit Financials" and the metric is graded.
Does a skipped step lower my score?
No. Missing inputs drop out of the score in both directions. The score covers only what your numbers can measure.
Why can't I open Plays yet?
Plays unlock when the Score Card's tour ends, finished or skipped. Click "Take the Tour" and end it.
