How to Price Your Startup Investment
You'll have a priced list of what you'll buy over the plan's two years to reach your month-24 business, each in the month you buy it. The forecast takes each purchase out of cash in its month.
Before You Start
- Where: the "Invest" card on a Blueprint's dashboard. It opens once Design is finalized.
- Plan: free on every plan.
- Have ready: quotes or estimates for what you'll buy once, not every month, and roughly when.
Steps
- Add your items. Add each purchase to "Business Setup", "Equipment", "Software & Technology", "Marketing & Launch" or "Custom Investments". "Total Investment" at the top adds them up. Screenshot to come: Invest page with Equipment items and the Total Investment figure (invest-step.png)
- Pick the month. Each row has a month list, from "Month 1 (launch)" to "Month 24". The purchase leaves your cash that month and starts depreciating then.
- Enter only the business share. For anything you also use personally, enter the business part only.
- Click "Finalize". Nothing to buy? Finalize with every table empty. Build unlocks on the dashboard.
Tips
- Monthly costs belong on Design, not here. Invest is for what you pay once.
- Started from My Business? What the business already owns is listed under "Already Owned" and keeps depreciating, so don't add it again. Change it in My Business, then click "Refresh Starting Numbers" on the Blueprint's dashboard.
Common Questions
Where do my purchases show up?
In the forecast's cash walk, as "Capital Investments" in the month you buy each one. "To start" on the results counts the ones you buy before cash reaches its lowest point.
Can I change it after finalizing?
Yes. Edit and finalize again, and an existing forecast updates on its own.
