How to Compare Two Plans Side by Side

You'll have two Blueprints, one per direction, with their forecasts side by side.

Before You Start

  • Where: "Compare" on "My Blueprints". The button appears once you have two Blueprints.
  • Plan: a paid tier. Compare is paid, and the free plan holds one editable Blueprint ("Duplicate" is greyed out at that limit).
  • One finished Blueprint: Target, Design, Invest and Build done, with a generated forecast. See How to Draw Your Path to Month 24.

Steps

  1. Duplicate the plan. On "My Blueprints", click "Duplicate" on its row. The copy is named after the original with "- Copy" and a number. Screenshot to come: My Blueprints list with the Duplicate button on a Blueprint row (duplicate-blueprint.png)
  2. Rename the copy. Open its dashboard and click the pencil next to the name.
  3. Change one choice. Edit the step that holds it: "Design" for the month-24 business, "Invest" for upfront spending, "Build" for pace, "Basics" for the tax election.
  4. Update the forecast. Finalize the step you changed. That updates the forecast. If you changed Build curves, click "Regenerate Projection".
  5. Compare. Click "Compare", choose the two Blueprints as "Scenario 1" and "Scenario 2", then click "Compare". Screenshot to come: Compare Scenarios page with Scenario 1 and Scenario 2 selected (compare-select.png)
  6. Read the result. "01 Key metrics" puts "To start", "Profitable" and "Hit your number" next to each other. "02 Cash flow" overlays the two monthly cash flows, with each target as a dashed line. Tips

  • Change one or two things. With five differences, Compare shows which plan wins but not why.
  • Star your two leading options to keep them at the top of "My Blueprints".

Common Questions

Can I compare sole proprietorship against S-Corp?
Yes. Duplicate the Blueprint, change how it's taxed on the copy's "Basics", regenerate, and compare the two.

Can I compare more than two?
Compare takes two at a time. Compare a third option against the current leader.

Why does Compare show an error?
Both Blueprints need a finished Build. A Blueprint whose target is "Use my Freedom Number" also needs that Freedom Number to exist.

Does duplicating change the original?
No. The copy is a separate Blueprint, with its own debt, inventory and notes.
